Injection-molded plastic kit of the British single-seat fighter Hawker Hurricane Mk.I in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a newer tooling with a finely engraved surface, clear parts for the canopy and a decal sheet. The kit captures the early Mk.I version, the key Royal Air Force fighter at the start of the Second World War.
The Hawker Hurricane was, together with the Spitfire, the main RAF fighter during the Battle of Britain in 1940 and claimed the largest share of the kills of that battle. Its structure was based on a traditional framework partly covered with fabric, which made repairs easier. It was powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine and the Mk.I version carried eight 7.7 mm machine guns in the wings. The machine was rugged, stable and tough in combat.
Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement and sand the joints of the fuselage and the leading edges. Work out the cockpit before closing up the fuselage and use masks on the glazing so that the frames come out cleanly. Spray the classic British upper surface scheme (brown and green) with a pale blue underside using an airbrush after applying a base coat (primer). Apply a gloss coat under the decals and refine the weathering gently with a wash in the panel lines and light wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
