A set of photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the British Hurricane Mk.I fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hurricane Mk.I was a British single-seat fighter that entered service before the war and bore the main burden of the fighting of the summer and autumn of 1940. There were more squadrons armed with this type than with the more famous Spitfire, and Hurricanes accounted for a larger share of the total number of kills. It was powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine and its armament was eight 7.7 mm machine guns mounted in the wings, that is outside the propeller disc.
It is a set of photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale for upgrading a model of this aircraft. Photo-etch can do what injection-molded plastic cannot in this scale: give a part a thickness matching real sheet metal and carry detail that could not be cast in a mold. The list of parts and their placement on the model is described in the instructions of the maker of the set.
The parts are attached to the carrier fret by thin tabs. Cut through them with a sharp knife on a hard surface; breaking them out will twist the item beyond repair. Run the bends over a sharp edge or in a bending tool and, on longer parts, fold the whole length at once, otherwise a wave will appear. They are bonded with super glue or with two-part epoxy, which gives more time to align a part. Wash the metal before painting, degrease it and spray it with a base coat; without a base coat the paint will not hold on the smooth surface.
This is an accessory set. The aircraft kit, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
