A resin detail set in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Black Dog. The set is not a kit of the aircraft in its own right – it is an accessory intended for finishing off a plastic model of the Argentine attack aircraft IA 58 Pucará. It focuses on two areas that tend to be markedly simplified on injection-molded kits: the spaces of the landing gear bays and the space of the cannon armament. The FMA IA 58 Pucará is an Argentine twin-engine turboprop aircraft for reconnaissance and close support, designed for operation from short and unpaved surfaces. It has high-set tail surfaces, a fixed tandem cockpit with two seats one behind the other and sturdy nosewheel landing gear. The gun armament was placed in the front part of the fuselage and in the wing roots, which makes the space of the weapons a visible detail even on a finished model. The type stayed in service for a number of decades and was built in several production series that differed in their fittings.
First wash the resin parts with lukewarm water and detergent – residues of release agent from the mold otherwise prevent the paint from adhering. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc; do not break them; do any sanding wet and with respiratory protection, because the dust from resin is fine. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, as resin does not react to cement for plastic. Before gluing a part in, check dry how it seats into the opening in the plastic fuselage and widen the opening if need be. The bays are painted before the fuselage is closed, and at the end a dark wash in the recesses and fine dry brushing of the edges help.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
