An add-on set of exhausts for a model of the Il-2 ground-attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. It replaces the simplified parts from the kit with more crisply rendered substitutes.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Il-2 was a Soviet ground-attack aircraft of the Second World War and is among the most numerously built combat aircraft of all. The forward part of its fuselage was an armored shell that protected the powerplant, the radiators and the pilot from ground fire. The exhausts project from the sides of the engine cowling and are clearly visible on a finished model, because a pronounced burnt stain usually forms around them and trails back along the side of the fuselage.
This is an add-on set of exhausts for 1:48 scale. It replaces the parts from the kit, which tend to be simplified and to have blanked-off openings. The exact number of parts and the kit the set is cut for are given in the instructions supplied by the manufacturer, so it is advisable to compare the set with your own kit before buying.
The parts are not polystyrene, so they are glued with cyanoacrylate glue rather than with cement for plastic models. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder carefully. Wash and degrease the parts before painting so that the paint holds. The exhausts are best fitted after a dry test, because the cowling tends to be narrow at that point. In terms of color, a dark metallic base works well, with rusty and brown shades over it and finally a light deposit of soot trailing backward.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
