This resin accessory by the brand Quickboost in 1:48 scale offers faithfully cast exhaust stacks for a model of the Soviet ground-attack aircraft Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik. It is not an aircraft kit but replacement parts that take the place of the simplified exhausts from a plastic kit with sharply cast components with suggested openings.
The Il-2 Shturmovik was a Soviet single-engine ground-attack aircraft of the Second World War, protected by an armored shell and committed in mass to attacks on ground targets. It was powered by a V12 engine with rows of exhaust stacks along the sides of the cowling. Faithfully made exhausts with a suggested opening at the outlet and marks of heat stress are among the details that bring the front part of a model to life.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with dish soap because of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter, sand the surfaces and protect your breathing when sanding resin. Glue the exhausts with cyanoacrylate. They come into their own once painted in dark metallic and rusty shades with fine highlights; apply a primer before painting.
