This set is colored photo-etch (etched parts from thin sheet) meant to add detail to the interior of the model of the Soviet Ilyushin Il-2m3 ground-attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but a set of accessories that you add to a plastic kit of your own. The colored parts are pre-printed and self-adhesive, so a large part of the work is done without painting.
It replaces and supplements the flat plastic parts of the cockpit with fine etched pieces. It typically contains a pre-printed instrument panel, side consoles, levers, seat details and multi-part seat belts. The result is a faithful, three-dimensional interior that markedly lifts the impression of the finished model once the canopy is closed.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface and bend them accurately in a photo-etch bender or with a razor blade. The self-adhesive colored pieces can be fixed with cyanoacrylate glue to be sure. The color print is sensitive to thinners, so work carefully with varnishes and washes. Plan the order before assembly, because some of the parts go in before the fuselage halves are joined.
This is an add-on set, not a model. The base kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
