The P-47D Thunderbolt was an American single-engine fighter with a radial engine, a massive fuselage and heavy gun armament. It was among the heaviest single-engine fighters of its day and it proved itself both in combat at altitude and in attacks on ground targets. After the end of their service with the US Air Force, aircraft of this type also reached the armed forces of further countries, and this sheet is aimed at their Iranian form.
These are decals in 1:48 scale for a model of the P-47D in Iranian markings. They are water-slide decals, so they are handled in the classic way with water. The sheet suits anyone who wants an aircraft on the shelf that differs from the usual American finishes at first glance.
First overcoat the area under the decal with a gloss varnish, otherwise a silvery haze will appear around the motif. Cut the motif out together with a piece of the carrier film, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest aside until it can be slid on the paper. Then lay it on the model, pull the paper out from under it and adjust the position with a damp brush. Blot the excess water with a cloth. Over rivets and into a busy surface a decal softener helps, and once it has gone on do not move the decal any more. When it is dry, overcoat the whole thing with a matte or semi-matte varnish.
