1:35 Board fence — irregular I. is a laser-cut wooden diorama accessory. The boards are of uneven width and height, so the fence looks knocked together by hand. A scenery accessory in 1:35 scale, not a vehicle model.

A diorama accessory from the Czech manufacturer Model Scene. It is a laser-cut fence of real wood in which the vertical boards are deliberately of uneven width and uneven height — the result looks like a fence knocked together by hand out of whatever was available. Such a fence is rewarding at farm yards, sheds, woodpiles and backlots, where a regular fence would look too tidy. It is not a model of a vehicle or of figures, but an element of a scene.
The parts are released from the sheet with a sharp scalpel and the remains of the tabs are sanded with fine abrasive paper. They are glued with white PVA wood glue, and small joints take gel cyanoacrylate. The wood is absorbent, so it is best painted with a wood stain or with heavily thinned acrylic glazes in several coats. The irregularity comes out when each board gets a slightly different shade; the edges are then brought out with a dry brush and the gaps darkened with a wash. Sink the posts into the terrain and let some sections lean slightly out of true.
An untidy fence calls for untidy surroundings: let the foot grow over with grass and weeds, lean boards, tools or a cart wheel against the fence and dust the bottoms of the boards with pigment, so that the fence grows out of the terrain rather than standing on it.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The glue, the paints and any further scenery materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
