This resin detail set from Eduard contains a pair of modern IRIS-T air-to-air guided missiles in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit, but an aftermarket accessory for underwing stores. Two types of launch pylon are usually included (the LAU-129 for the F-16 and the RB99 for the Gripen), along with decals and photo-etched parts; the seeker heads are usually cast in clear resin.
The IRIS-T is a European short-range infrared-guided missile with thrust vectoring and a modern all-aspect seeker. It uses the same mountings as the AIM-9 Sidewinder and is in service on a range of NATO aircraft — the Eurofighter, the Tornado, the Phantom, the F-16 and the Gripen.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, separate them from the casting blocks and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Leave the clear seeker heads transparent or mask them according to the particular version. Do any sanding with respiratory protection; apply the decals onto a smooth varnish.
This is a weapons accessory, not a model in its own right. Glue, paints and the aircraft are not included in the package.
