A complete set of eight stencils for spraying the typical camouflage of Italian aircraft. The 77propeller brand supplies it as a combined package, which offers in one box the patterns otherwise sold in pairs. The stencils are used repeatedly and suit a wing as well as the curved surface of a fuselage equally well.
During the Second World War the aircraft of the Italian Air Force carried some of the most characteristic camouflages of all. Over a light sandy base appeared dense blotches and the famous rings, which differed from machine to machine in density as well as size and on some types covered practically the whole surface. Painting them freehand means hours of work and an uncertain result, because here the irregularity has to be regularly irregular. The stencil ensures that the size of the elements stays consistent over the whole surface and matches the chosen scale.
Hold them a little above the surface and you will get the soft sprayed edge typical of an airbrush; laying them on tight gives a sharp edge instead. Work at low pressure and with heavily thinned paint, in coats. Wipe the stencil between the individual positions, so that dried residues do not come loose from it. It is advisable to try the pattern on a piece of card first.
