The real subject

The Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer was a German light tank destroyer built on a proven chassis of Czechoslovak design. It was distinguished by a low silhouette, well-sloped armor and a gun in the front plate of the superstructure. It was relatively cheap and easy to produce, and so it was built in large numbers from 1944 until the end of the war. It was used on the Eastern and the Western Fronts and became one of the best-known vehicles of its class.

Building and painting tips

First assemble and paint the running gear, and only then close the hull. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. Apply a primer and the paints with an airbrush, apply the decals over a gloss coat and accentuate the recesses with a wash. Late machines typically carried a three-tone camouflage scheme and pronounced wear, so support the weathering with dust and mud pigments.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of German armored vehicles of the Second World War
  • Those interested in tank destroyers and low-silhouette vehicles
  • Builders of dioramas in 1:48 scale
  • More experienced modelers as well as more advanced beginners

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
