A conversion set changes the form of a kit you have already bought: it replaces some of the original parts with new ones and allows you to build a variant the kit itself does not offer. This set is in 1:48 scale and counts on a Tamiya kit. The result is a German tank destroyer from the Jagdpanzer family, that is a low tracked machine with the gun mounted in a fixed superstructure without a rotating turret.
A conversion is not building from a kit: according to the instructions, parts of the original components have to be cut off and sanded and the new parts seated on them accurately. Before you start gluing, put the parts together dry and check how they sit. The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary plastic cement has no effect on them and the joints are made with cyanoacrylate glue, on larger areas in combination with two-part putty.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little distance from the part and sand off the remainder so that the surface itself is not damaged. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a little dish soap, let them dry and apply a primer; without it the shade holds less well on a smooth surface.
