This set from the aircraft aftermarket manufacturer Aires/Quickboost is a resin replacement for the exhaust pipes of a model of the La-5 fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane kit but a detail accessory that replaces the plastic exhausts from the base kit with more finely cast parts, usually with suggested hollow outlets. Faithful exhausts are among the clearly visible features on the sides of the engine section.
The Lavochkin La-5 was a Soviet single-seat fighter of the Second World War powered by an air-cooled radial engine. The exhaust pipes emerging from the engine cowling are clearly visible and are worth rendering in detail on a model.
First wash the mold release residue off the resin part, carefully cut off the casting block and sand the surface with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). We recommend painting the exhausts in burnt metal shades and picking them out with rust and soot; the hollow outlets come alive once the inside is darkened.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
