A package of masks for the extensive cockpit glazing of the Junkers Ju 88 bomber in the A-4 version in 1:48 scale. The cut matches the Revell model and includes both sides of the glazing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Junkers Ju 88 entered service as a fast bomber meant to escape fighters through speed and ended as an all-purpose machine for night fighting, reconnaissance and torpedo attacks. The A-4 form received a longer wing, stronger engines and a strengthened structure so that it could carry more bombs. Its most striking feature remained the cockpit, in which all four crew members sat together in a single glazed cage; the arrangement was meant to support cooperation, but at the price of an enormous area of glass that had to be made from dozens of individual panes.
It is this glazed nose that makes a model of this type one of the most laborious building tasks. The frames meet in irregular polygons, every pane has a different shape and cutting tape by hand into such a pattern stretches to a whole evening. The pre-die-cut pieces from this set match the division of the panes and are applied one after another, so the work can be broken off at any time and picked up the next day.
The number of shapes here corresponds to the extent of the glazing and it is the largest in this group. The work saved on the nose usually amounts to more than an evening spent with a roll of ordinary tape.
