Replacement wheels for the Willys in 1:48 scale in an underinflated form. A bulged tire and a flattened bottom give the vehicle weight.
Responsibility details are not available.
On a light Willys cross-country vehicle the wheel is one of the few places where it shows whether a model is standing or merely hovering above its base. On the real vehicle the tire pressure was routinely lowered, because a deflated wheel grips markedly better in sand, mud and snow. And the change is visible: the sidewalls bulge, the bottom rests on the ground over a whole flat area and the vehicle sits lower.
The set brings wheels in 1:48 scale in an underinflated form. They replace the wheels from a plastic kit, which tend to be perfectly round, and in this smaller scale they do even more work than elsewhere: a vehicle in 1:48 is small on a shelf, and it is precisely how it sits on its wheels that decides whether it looks convincing.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part, sand the remainder only lightly and leave the contact area alone, so that the flattening is kept. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and choose the glue according to the material; super glue will serve universally. Turn the flattening toward the ground and let the model dry on a level board, so that all the wheels bed down. Mix the rubber into a grayish dark tone, never pure black, and dust the lower part of the wheel lightly with the shade of the terrain.
For builders of 1:48 scale vehicles who are bothered by unloaded wheels on a model. Paints and glue are not included in the box, unless stated otherwise.
