A resin detail accessory in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Brengun. It is not an aircraft kit, but a set of carried armament - the seven-tube LAU-131 launcher for 70 mm unguided rockets. The accessory is intended for builders who are not satisfied with the simplified pods from an ordinary kit or who find none in the box at all. The number of launchers in the package is given on the packaging.
The LAU-131 belongs to the family of light American launchers for 70 mm unguided rockets, that is, 2.75 inches. The pod has seven tubes arranged around its axis and it is carried on the ordinary pylons of combat aircraft as well as helicopters. Compared with the older and heavier types of the same family the design is lighter and simpler, so it can be used on machines with a limited pylon capacity. Rockets of this size are used in a wide range of versions, from training to combat warheads of various purposes; the particular make-up of the load follows the task of the machine.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that they are rid of mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and do not break them off - with cylindrical shapes a break easily costs the circular cross section. Check the mouths of the tubes against the light and carefully drill out any flash with a micro drill, because open mouths are what makes the biggest impression on a launcher. It is attached with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply primer before painting; the pods tend to be finished differently from the skin of the aircraft and they carry small technical lettering, so it pays to paint them separately and to hang them on the model only at the end.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
