Lightning F.2A and F.6 engines and radar 1:48 is a resin set that adds cast powerplants and the front radar section to the British interceptor.
Responsibility details are not available.
A Black Dog set adds to the British fighter what an injection mold can only suggest: cast powerplants and the front radar assembly hidden on the axis of the air intake. The parts are meant for a model on which you leave the fuselage open or the nose uncovered. The aircraft itself is not in the box; your own kit in 1:48 scale is assumed.
The Lightning was a British interceptor with the unusual arrangement of two jet engines one above the other, thanks to which it had exceptional rate of climb. The F.2A version arose from the conversion of earlier machines, received a larger ventral tank and modified fin surfaces. The F.6 version was the most capable production variant, with extended range. The radar was housed in a movable cone in the middle of the circular air intake, which remains the most conspicuous recognition feature of the type.
Wash the parts and let them dry thoroughly; paint would not hold over any mold release residue. Trace the opening in the fuselage from a paper template, cut it out and only then start cutting off the casting blocks, so that you have somewhere to try the parts. The engine parts come out best with a combination of several metal shades and heat-tinted metal at the nozzles. The radar cone tends to be contrastingly light against the dark interior of the nose.
