A set of self-adhesive masking templates in 1:48 scale for models of the single-seat F-16C fighter. According to the name it covers the cockpit glazing and the wheel hubs. It is not a kit, but an accessory for the painting stage; the film is lifted with tweezers from the sheet and leaves no adhesive behind once removed. Furball Aero-Design is an American maker of accessories focused on the modern tactical and carrier aviation of the United States.
The F-16 is a single-engine fighter with a frameless bubble cockpit canopy, a recessed air intake under the fuselage and a fly-by-wire control system. The F-16C version is a single-seat modernized variant that received a number of equipment blocks differing in avionics and fittings during its service. For the modeler the canopy is what matters: it is almost without transverse frames, so on the model it forms a large continuous surface where every inaccuracy in the paint is immediately visible.
A frameless canopy has a gold-tinted surface coating on the real aircraft. If you want to imitate it, tinted clear paint is applied to the outer side of the part and the masks are applied only afterwards, or uncovered places would be left under them. Spray the frame running round the lower edge of the canopy itself with the interior shade first, then with the outer finish. Never sand or polish the canopy with a mask applied. With the wheel hubs, the rule is to take the mask off only after it has dried and to wipe any overrun away with a toothpick and a drop of water.
This is an add-on set for a kit you already own. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
