It is not a kit of the aircraft but a set of 3D decals. The set holds a 3D-printed surface texture of raised (positive) rivets and other small details, carried on decal paper. Once applied to finished plastic, it gives a model of the Lockheed P-38J Lightning in 1:48 scale the realistic relief of rivets and overlapping panels that the molding itself does not have. The set is shaped for the plastic P-38J kit from Tamiya.

How it works and how it is used

• They are wet 3D decals - you cut the piece out, soak it and transfer it to the surface of the model like a classic decal.
• They are applied to a finished, smoothed and ideally varnished surface; only then come the final painting or varnish.
• Apply them patiently in sections and press them down with a soft cotton bud, so that the relief of the rivets seats without bubbles; as to whether a decal softener can be used with them, check the manufacturer's instructions.
• The set is intended for the particular P-38J kit from Tamiya - the pieces match its shape and panel layout.
• It does not take the place of a kit nor of decals with markings - it is an accessory for the surface texture.

Who the set is for

For modelers who are building a P-38J in 1:48 scale from Tamiya and want to bring the surface out with raised rivets without laborious riveting by hand. Working with 3D decals assumes experience with ordinary decals and a careful hand.

The set is supplied as 3D decals on paper; the base kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
