A COBI kit without gluing in 1:48 scale, its subject the American Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft. The parts join by pressing together; no glue is needed.

The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird is an American strategic reconnaissance aircraft that flew at extreme altitudes and at high supersonic speeds. The crew consisted of two men seated one behind the other. The shape of the airframe is unmistakable: a long, narrow body with the so-called chines, the side leading edges, along the sides, two engine nacelles built into the wing and a pair of canted vertical tails. The dark finish the aircraft owes its nickname to makes the model a striking item for a display case.
This is a COBI kit from the group of models without gluing. The plastic parts fit into one another and hold by pressing, so the finished model can be taken apart again if need be. The 1:48 scale together with the length of the subject means that the finished piece takes up a fair amount of room in a display case.
Work through the manufacturer's numbered instructions and press the parts fully home, so that the joints hold even on the long straight sections of the fuselage. On kits of this type the parts tend to be colored through, so painting is not necessary. If you nonetheless want to paint, try the paint first in a hidden place and apply it thinly, because a heavy layer gets in the way at the joints. Put the finished model down by the solid parts of the fuselage, not by the thin tail surfaces.
The package contains the kit and the instructions. Paints, glue and a base for the model are not supplied with it, unless stated otherwise.
