Full-color ejection seat equipment in the early form for the Lockheed T-33 trainer in 1:48 scale, printed with a raised profile.
Responsibility details are not available.
The T-33 came from stretching the fuselage of the Shooting Star fighter for a second seat and first flew in 1948. That simple step turned out to have given the world one of the most durable trainers of all: over six thousand of them were built and in some countries they still flew after the year 2000. Whole generations of pilots moving from piston machines to jets went through them, and a number of them also served as target tugs, liaison and calibration aircraft. In the end it appeared in the colors of more than thirty armed forces and was also built under license by Canadian and Japanese makers. The early ejection seat designation refers to the first version, which differed from the later modifications in the shape of the shell and in the arrangement of the restraints.
The equipment of the seat is printed in color and with relief, so the straps stand above the surface and the shadow beneath them does the work for you. The difference between the early and the late form is fairly marked with this type, which is why the brand offers both variants separately, and it pays to choose according to the machine you are building.
Finish the seat in paint, go over the matured finish with gloss varnish where the equipment will go and let it dry. Seat the soaked part, shape it with a toothpick over the edges of the shell and draw the remaining water off. Once dry, go over it with matte varnish, which will at the same time hide the edges of the carrier film. You will see the difference against a painted restraint mainly in close-up photographs. The seat then looks inhabited even without a pilot figure.
