A decal sheet from the manufacturer Kits-World in 1:48 scale with the insignia of German air units at Geschwader level. It is not tied to one type of aircraft: it is a set of unit emblems that can be used on various models according to the unit you want to depict. Which particular insignia the sheet contains and in how many sizes follows the illustration on the packaging.
In the organizational structure of the Luftwaffe the Geschwader was a formation of the highest level, further divided into groups and squadrons. The units used a graphic emblem of their own, which was usually applied to the forward part of the fuselage under the cockpit or around the engine cowling. The emblem served to distinguish the affiliation of a machine and supplemented the tactical codes and the national markings. The placement, size and color treatment differed between individual units and periods, so it is advisable to verify the position on the model against a period photograph of the machine you are building.
Unit insignia often have an irregular outline, which on a decal is surrounded by transparent carrier film. That film is visible when seen from the side, especially on matte paint. Trim the decal with a sharp scalpel close to the drawing, therefore, and leave only a narrow margin that holds the design together. Trim on a hard mat and while the decal is still dry, that is, before soaking. Once applied, a spot drop of decal softener helps, so that the film is pressed against the rivets and panel lines beneath the insignia, and a final covering clear coat hides the edge of the film completely.
