A sheet of color decals with a relief layer for fitting out the cabins of models of German aircraft of the Second World War in 1:48 scale, that is the Focke-Wulf and Messerschmitt types. This is neither a model nor a photo-etched set. The printing is full color and carries its own raised layer, so the strap on the seat has thickness and the metal fittings a different shade. It is applied the wet way like an ordinary decal.
The 1:48 scale makes greater demands on the application than the large 1:32. The individual belts are tiny, the film is fragile and any fold is irreversible. It pays to work under a magnifier or with a desk lamp with a lens, to keep a dish of clean water and absorbent paper to hand, and to try the first piece out on a scrap of plastic first. The reward is detail that in 1:48 is markedly harder to reach by bending photo-etched parts, because a metal strip at that size is reluctant to hold its shape.
Finish the seat and apply a gloss clear coat, as a decal will not sit on a matte surface. Put the decal in the water for only a few seconds, just until it releases, and move it with a soft brush or bamboo tweezers, never with metal ones. The manufacturer does not recommend a softener. If you need to hold a belt on an edge, apply a little thinned PVA glue in advance. Once it has dried, go over it with a gloss clear coat, and only then come the matting and any weathering, so that the edges of the film disappear.
The set contains decals only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
