A conversion set for the Airfix kit in 1:48 scale. It makes it possible to build the Lysander in the Mk.II form, that is with a different engine installation under the designation Perseus. It is precisely the nose on the Lysander that the individual forms differ in most conspicuously, so this is a change that is visible on a finished model at first glance.
The Westland Lysander was a British liaison and observation aircraft with a high-set wing, fixed landing gear with large fairings and a reputation as a machine that could take off from almost anywhere. It was precisely the short takeoff and landing that made it a legend of the night flights into occupied Europe. The Mk.II form completes this family with a different engine variant which the kit itself does not offer.
A conversion means that you replace some of the parts of the kit with new ones and modify some of the original plastic. What exactly is cut away and in which order the work proceeds is given in the instructions of the set, so go through them before you reach for a knife. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down, wash and degrease the parts before painting and glue them with super glue. Offer the new parts up to the fuselage dry and adjust the mating surfaces until they sit without pressure, and only then glue them permanently.
For modelers who want a form in the display case that is not found among ordinary kits and do not mind taking a knife and abrasive paper to it. It pays to reckon with a little filling and with the fact that the nose is adjusted according to the actual fit of the parts, not according to the picture in the instructions.
