The basic grade of the mask set for building the AV-8B Harrier II in 1:48 scale. It holds self-adhesive cut masks for the most important masked places, that is above all the canopy glazing. The BASIC grade is the leanest version in the range: it covers what a clean build cannot do without and leaves aside the supplementary items that the higher grades offer. For a modeler who just wants to mask the canopy and the windscreen quickly and reliably, it is a practical choice.
Before applying them, wash the glazing in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let it dry in the open, so that no greasy film is left on the surface. Take the mask off the backing with a sharp point or with tweezers, lay it on and press it down from the center to the edges. If a mask stretches as you lift it off the backing, do not pull it back by force; rather return it to the backing and take it off again a different way.
Apply the paint thinned and in thin coats, and never spray square at the edge of a mask. The ideal is first a light overspray in the interior shade, so that anything that creeps under does so in the same color as the inside of the cockpit, and only then the top camouflage shade. Keep the unused parts from the sheet; they come in useful as masking material for small areas elsewhere on the model.
