The basic step of the mask range from the manufacturer New Ware in 1:48 scale. The set holds machine-cut self-adhesive masks intended mainly for the cockpit glazing. The shapes follow the parts of the particular Hobby Boss 81713 kit. It is the simplest entry into this range — anyone who needs the cockpit alone and does not want a wider extent reaches for this one.
The Su-27UB is the two-seat combat trainer version of the heavy Soviet twin-engine machine. A tandem cockpit means a longer canopy with larger glazed areas and more frames than on the single-seat version, so masking takes correspondingly more time.
The basis is a clean surface: wash the clear parts in lukewarm water with detergent, rinse them and let them dry in the air rather than by wiping them with a cloth. Peel the mask off the backing with tweezers with fine tips and take hold of it by the edge, not by the face — fingerprints make adhesion worse. First merely lay the piece on and check the fit against the engraved frame, and only then press it down with a soft tool from the middle outwards. On a two-seat cockpit it is practical to start at the fixed center part and work to both sides, so that any deviation does not accumulate.
This is a stand-alone mask set. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
