The New Ware 1:48 Mask U-2A Dragon Lady BASIC self-adhesive masking templates in the basic scope, cut for one specific kit, the AFV Club AR48112.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of accurately cut self-adhesive templates for masking while spraying a model of the high-altitude U-2A reconnaissance aircraft in 1:48 scale. The maker is the Czech company New Ware. The templates are based on the shape of the parts of one specific kit, the AFV Club AR48112, so there is nothing to try-fit or trim.
New Ware masks are graded as BASIC, ADVANCED and EXPERT. It is not a scale of quality but of scope. BASIC is the smallest variant and covers the core of what a mask set is bought for, that is the cockpit glazing. When you need to cover more areas on the model, higher levels of the set that extend the scope also exist for the same aircraft.
The U-2A was the first production version of the high-flying reconnaissance aircraft, which entered service in the second half of the 1950s. The design is subordinated to altitude and range: an extremely slender wing of large span, a lightweight airframe and landing gear arranged on a single centerline with jettisonable outrigger wheels under the wings. The cockpit is therefore small and its glazing has prominent dividing frames, exactly the kind of detail where a mask pays off.
Before masking, wash the clear parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let them air dry rather than wiping them with a cloth. Lay the template on dry, adjust its position and only then press it down. Before the paint itself, spray the edge with a thin coat of the shade underneath; any bleed will then be in the color of the frame and will not show. Do not reapply a template once it has been peeled off, as the adhesive holds worse after removal.
The package holds only the masking templates. The kit and paints are not part of it.
