Printing technology makes it possible to render the straps, handles and small fittings at a fineness an injection mold cannot reach. The McDonnell F-4 Phantom II was a two-seat twin-engine aircraft that came about for the US Navy and spread in many versions to a number of countries. The F-4B version was one of the early carrier variants and, as a two-seat machine, had two separate ejection seats in a tandem arrangement. The seats on Phantoms changed during their service and differed in details and fittings, which is why accessory sets are divided into early and late forms. The cockpit of the Phantom is clearly visible under its large glazing, so the seats are among the elements that draw the most attention on a finished model.
Carefully separate the seats from the print supports, sand the contact faces down with fine abrasive paper wet and with respiratory protection. Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent before painting, so that no print residue is left on the surface. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. It is advisable to try the seating dry first, as replacement seats sometimes call for a small modification of the cockpit floor. The best result comes when you paint the seats and add their patina separately and fit them at the end.
