This resin set from the Quickboost brand (a line from the manufacturer Aires) brings an accurately cast under-fuselage pod with the AN/AAA-4 infrared detector for plastic models of the McDonnell F-4B Phantom II carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. This characteristic feature under the forward fuselage completes an early version of the Phantom. It is not an aircraft kit but a detail part.
The casting captures the teardrop shape of the sensor housing typical of early F-4Bs convincingly. Resin allows finer detail than injection-molded plastic and makes it easier to build a specific period version.
Wash the part in lukewarm soapy water, cut off the casting block and sand the surface with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer before painting for good adhesion.
The set contains a resin part only. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
