This set from the manufacturer Eduard replaces the plastic arrestor hook on a model of the McDonnell F-4B Phantom II carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. The part is made by direct 3D printing in resin and has a fine surface and sharp edges that a plastic part usually cannot capture faithfully. This is not an aircraft model but a replacement detail for the matching plastic model.
The F-4B was the early carrier version of the legendary Phantom II of the US Navy. The arrestor hook served to catch the arresting wire when landing on the deck of an aircraft carrier and is one of the characteristic features of carrier aircraft.
Wash the print resin residue off the part, separate it carefully from the print supports and bond it with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Do any sanding with respiratory protection. Lay down a thin primer before painting; the hook is typically striped, so careful masking pays off.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
