Etched metal parts for a model of the Me 262A jet fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Me 262 was a German twin-engine jet aircraft and the first machine of its kind to get into combat in production form. It carries the engine nacelles under a slightly swept wing, the fuselage has a triangular section and the nose is short and pointed. The A version in the fighter rendering got the nickname Schwalbe. The lead the aircraft had in speed was reduced by the short life of the powerplants and by its coming into service only in the last phase of the war.
Etched metal parts for a model of the Me 262A in 1:48 scale. They replace the features that in plastic are necessarily thicker than the scale calls for, and they add the fine structure an injection mold cannot hold. The extent of the set and the placement of the parts is stated in the instructions from the manufacturer.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface; with scissors the metal bends. Sand the rest of the tab off with a fine file. Bend in a bending tool or between two blades in one movement; repeated bending fatigues the metal. It is glued with super glue applied in drops on the tip of a pin; cement for plastic has no effect on metal. Before painting, degrease the parts and spray them with a primer, or the coat will not hold on smooth metal.
For modelers who are building the Me 262A in 1:48 scale and want to take a model above the level of the parts from the kit. Work with etched metal calls for tweezers, a sharp blade and calm. Check in the instructions for the set whether the parts fit a particular kit. A kit, paints and glue are not included in the package unless stated otherwise.
