The French guided missile 1:48 MICA RF with active radar guidance: a set of stores by AMMO of Mig Jimenez for models of the Rafale and the Mirage 2000-5.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MICA version with an active radar seeker head is one of two forms of the same missile, and in the French Air Force it replaced two older weapons at once. The set brings a scale replica of it to be hung under a finished airframe.
Development was led by the European arms maker MBDA and the missile entered service in the middle of the nineteen-nineties on Mirage 2000-5 machines. It is remarkable in that one and the same body exists in two variants according to the terminal seeker: RF with its own radar for firing at longer ranges, and IR with an imaging infrared sensor for close maneuvering combat. The French Air Force could thus retire the Super 530 and the Magic at the same time. Thrust vectoring gives the missile exceptional agility in the very first moments of flight. Today it is carried above all by the multirole Rafale.
First try the contact faces dry, so that the weapon hangs parallel with the axis of the fuselage. The surface only needs to be flattened off and backed with a primer; French missiles as a rule wear a light training or combat coat with colored stripes. Protect the thin aerodynamic surfaces with your fingers while sanding, as they bend easily. Hanging them under the wing and on the wingtips alike was common on Dassault machines.
The stores are without a surface finish; the kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are sold separately.
