1:48 MiG-17F Fresco, correctly shaped ventral fin from Aires/Quickboost. A replacement fin surface under the tail of the fuselage gives the fighter back the silhouette you know from photographs.
Responsibility details are not available.
This replacement part from Aires/Quickboost concentrates on a single spot, one that cannot be missed on a model, though: the fin surface on the belly of the rear fuselage of the MiG-17F. The casting has a more faithful outline and thickness, so the fighter looks exactly as it should both in profile and from behind. This is not a complete model but a corrective replacement for one part on a build in progress in 1:48 scale.
The MiG-17F, Fresco C in the NATO code, followed on from the famous MiG-15 and brought a new wing with three wing fences and the VK-1F powerplant with an afterburner. Although it was a design of the 1950s, over Vietnam it proved able to hold its own against considerably more modern supersonic opponents, and in a number of countries it stayed in service long afterward.
Cut the original fin carefully off the fuselage, sand the mark it leaves flat and seat the new part on a drop of cyanoacrylate glue. Mark the exact position beforehand with a soft pencil, following the drawings in the instructions. Liquid filler will take care of the small step between the part and the fuselage; once it has been sanded back, spray the spot together with the rest of the underside of the aircraft.
