Responsibility details are not available.
This is an injection-molded plastic kit of the MiG-17F jet fighter, or rather of its Polish license version LIM-5, in 1:48 scale from AMMO (Mig Jimenez). The model comes from a new tooling, and in this richly equipped edition the plastic is completed by photo-etched parts, landing gear details and equipment, painting masks for the glazing and auxiliary fuel tanks. The package offers markings for machines operated in Poland, in Cuba and in Angola. Check the particular package contents and the number of markings against the current packaging.
The MiG-17 (NATO code name Fresco) was a Soviet subsonic jet fighter with a swept wing that followed on from the older MiG-15. The MiG-17F version received an engine with an afterburner, which improved its rate of climb and its performance. The type was also built under license — in Poland as the LIM-5 — and in a wide range of color schemes it served with many friendly armed forces around the world, including Cuba and Angola.
Finish and paint the cockpit and the landing gear bays before closing the fuselage — later you will not reach them. Mask the canopy glazing with the enclosed masks so that it stays clear. The metallic and natural aluminum surfaces of MiGs come out well over a smooth, well-sanded base and a gloss primer. Bond the photo-etched parts with super glue. Bring out the panel lines with a dark wash and a fine paneliner.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories beyond the contents of the package are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
