The Eduard 1:48 MiG-17F TFace masking set is the double-sided variant of the masks for the MiG-17F model, that is for masking the glazing from the outside and from the inside.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set from Eduard for a model of the MiG-17F jet in 1:48 scale, in the TFace version. It is the TFace suffix that sets this item apart from the basic set for the same type: it means that the masks are prepared for both faces of the glazing, not only for the outer one.
The basic set is enough if the model is built with the canopy closed and the inside of the frame cannot be seen. As soon as the canopy stays slid back, however, the inner face of the frame becomes part of the view into the cockpit. An untreated frame looks like a transparent strip from within and comes across as unfinished. The TFace version deals with that difference and therefore holds twice the number of shapes.
The inner masks go on first, before the clear part is glued to the fuselage. It pays to do it in advance, because once fitted the part is hard to hold and fingers leave prints on it. Then the interior shade is sprayed, the part is set aside to dry and only after that is the outside masked. Before you glue the clear part in, check that the inner mask does not reach into the area that the fuselage frame will later cover. Take both masks off at the end of painting, ideally once the last coat of clear has set.
The set contains masks for painting. The model itself and the paints are not supplied with it.
