Model Maker 1:48 MiG-21 Around The World - Libya is a decal set from the series devoted to foreign users of the MiG-21, this time to Libyan machines.
Responsibility details are not available.
This decal set from the brand Model Maker in 1:48 scale belongs to the series devoted to foreign users of the MiG-21 fighter and is aimed at machines operated in Libya. Check the particular versions, fuselage numbers and the number of schemes against the illustration on the packaging.
The MiG-21 is a single-engined fighter with a triangular wing and a circular nose air intake with a movable cone. It was built in exceptionally large numbers and in many versions, which differ outwardly above all in the shape of the dorsal tank, the canopy and the diameter of the forward fuselage. It spread to a number of foreign users around the world, and it is exactly this variety of markings that is the subject of the whole decal series.
The final overcoat is not merely cosmetic but protective. A decal is a thin layer held on the surface only by its adhesive, and until it is sealed with varnish even simply handling the model while carrying it can damage it. Proceed by first wiping the adhesive residues off with a damp cloth once the decals are dry, leaving the model to stand for a day and only then applying the varnish. Matte varnish needs thorough stirring, because the matting agent settles to the bottom and an unstirred bottle gives an uneven surface. Apply two or three light layers with a pause between them, not one heavy one; a heavy layer goes white and makes a rim at the edges of the decals. On a model that will be handled or travel to shows, it pays to choose semi-matte instead, because it resists abrasion better and does not pick up fingerprints so easily.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The base model, the paints and the varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
