A crystal-clear vacuum-formed (vacuform) canopy from the Czech manufacturer Rob Taurus, intended to replace the injection-molded part from the kit for models of the supersonic MiG-21 Bis fighter in 1:48 scale. This is not an aircraft model, but a modeling accessory for cleaner glazing that is truer to scale.
A vacuum-formed part has thinner walls and better clarity than most standard canopies, so the impression of thick glass disappears. The cockpit looks more natural and the part makes it easier to show the canopy open with a view into the interior.
Cut the canopy out carefully around the edge, sand the edges and try the fit dry. It is bonded with clear PVA glue or with spots of super glue, so that the surfaces do not fog. Dipping it in a modeling polish increases the clarity. Mask the frames before painting.
This is a clear replacement canopy, not a complete kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
