1:48 MiG-21 - air intake covers are resin FOD plugs from Quickboost. They are fitted to a model of a parked aircraft to protect the intake of the jet engine from foreign objects getting in.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MiG-21 draws air through a frontal opening in the nose, in the middle of which sits a movable cone with the radar. It is exactly this unmistakable shape that makes the intake cover a recognizable feature of a machine parked on the ground. The set contains resin castings of such covers in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory that is fitted to a finished model.
Whenever you are building an aircraft in a ground setting: in a shelter, on a stand, during a preflight check or in a diorama with ground crew. The cover also draws attention away from the inside of the intake duct, which is difficult to smooth and fill on models. The model can therefore be finished faster and looks coherent.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent, otherwise the paint will slide off the residue of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw, level the surface with a file and try the cover dry until it seats evenly all around. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate super glue. It can be painted in a strong, saturated shade, which in practice is chosen precisely so that the cover cannot be overlooked. A dry brush on the edges and fine dust around the seating then keep the part from looking like a plastic toy.
This is an accessory for a build and is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
