A sheet of waterslide decals for a model of the MiG-21F-13 in 1:48 scale. The set holds no plastic or resin parts, only markings, which are applied to a finished and painted model. How many schemes are on the sheet and which particular aircraft it offers should be checked against the illustration on the packaging.
The letters F-13 denote one of the first production versions of the MiG-21. Against the later machines it had a narrower fuselage, a smaller dorsal spine and a different canopy shape, so it differs from the later versions of the type at a glance. That has a practical consequence for decals: the markings and their placement differ between early and late Fishbeds, and a set made directly for the F-13 version sits in the right places without improvising.
Early MiG-21s are often built in a bare-metal finish, and that changes the application of decals a little. A metallic coat is sensitive to abrasion, so always lock it in with a gloss varnish before the decals and do not touch it with your fingers while working. Soak the decal briefly, slide it onto a dampened area, blot the surplus water away by laying a paper tissue on it, and only then reach for the softener. On a smooth metal surface the film behaves well; watch out above all at the edges of panels. For the final overcoat, choose according to the look you want; on metal a semi-matte one is usually enough.
