An injection-molded plastic kit of a Soviet supersonic fighter in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter. It captures the frontline MiG-21MF version, one of the most widespread variants of this legendary family, with its typical delta wing and the circular air intake with a movable center cone in the nose. The box contains parts in gray plastic, a clear canopy part, a well-worked cockpit and hardpoints for armament. The model is finely broken down and suits more advanced beginners as well as experienced builders.
The MiG-21 is one of the most-produced supersonic fighters in history and it served in dozens of countries around the world. The MF version was powered by a more capable jet engine and carried a built-in twin-barrel 23 mm cannon; under the wing and the fuselage it could carry guided air-to-air missiles as well as unguided armament. The machine stood out for its high speed, its agility and its easy maintenance, thanks to which it stayed in service with many armed forces long after its first flight.
Finish and paint the cockpit and the nose gear bay first, and only then close the fuselage. The cockpit canopy can usually be worked in the open as well as the closed position - we recommend masking it carefully before varnishing. Use thin cement for plastic, a primer base and spraying with an airbrush; glue the stores and the small parts with a light touch. For a convincing look, fine washes into the engraved lines and discreet paint chipping on the leading edges work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
