This resin set from Aires in 1:48 scale refines the exhaust nozzles of the turbojets of the Soviet MiG-29A Fulcrum fighter. It is not an aircraft kit but a detail accessory that replaces the simplified nozzles of a base kit with faithfully made resin parts with inner structure. The set is intended for more experienced modelers.
The Mikoyan MiG-29 (NATO reporting name Fulcrum) was a Soviet twin-engine frontline fighter introduced in the 1980s. It was marked by its pronounced wing leading-edge root extensions, its high agility and its pair of engines with circular exhaust nozzles. The A version was the baseline frontline standard. The nozzles are an eye-catching feature of the rear end, where this set adds fine ribbing and the stepping of the panels.
Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The nozzles come into their own in metallic and heat-stained shades, with the panels gently picked out and discreet grime added. Check that they seat in the rear end of the base kit before gluing them in.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not the airplane model itself. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
