The Eduard 1:48 Mikoyan MiG-21bis is a photo-etched detail set for a model in 1:48. It is an accessory for a kit, not a model of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, intended for the subsequent detailing of a model of the MiG-21bis fighter in 1:48. The package holds sheet with etched parts that are added to a plastic kit. It is not a kit, not a model of the aircraft and not a finished product.
The most common reason why etched detail fails on a finished model is not the gluing but the painting. Photo-etched sheet is smooth and always needs degreasing, even when it looks clean: it is enough to wipe it with alcohol after cutting and then to touch it only with tweezers. Onto metal prepared like that, apply a thin coat of primer, ideally while the parts are still on the fret before they are separated from it, so that the small ones do not scatter. Only then comes the paint. Without an undercoat, paint holds poorly on metal and comes away with every further handling exactly at the edge, that is where it shows most. Choose the same shade as on the surrounding plastic, otherwise an etched part will always look like a foreign body.
Cut the parts off with a scalpel on a hard surface, make the folds along the etched score line and bond with gel cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy. The cockpit of a fighter is a small space, so dry-fit the parts and think the order of gluing through before you reach for the glue.
The package contains photo-etched parts only. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
