The cockpit elements are printed three-dimensionally and come finished in color directly on decal paper, so they have a noticeable relief and legible artwork of the instruments, switches and lettering. Painting the fine details by hand falls away. This release is the small version of the set and therefore contains a narrower selection of key interior elements than the full set. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory for a plastic kit in 1:48 scale. The exact extent of the set is stated on the box.
The Mirage 2000 is a single-engine combat aircraft with a delta wing and no horizontal tail surfaces. The 2000-5B guise is the two-seat version of the upgraded line with updated avionics and a revised cockpit fit. A two-seat cockpit means two sets of panels under long glazing, so it is the largest continuous visible area of interior on the whole model.
The base has to be smooth, degreased and covered with a gloss coat, because an element will not hold on matte paint. Cut out with a sharp scalpel close to the outline and seat with tweezers at the first attempt, as repeated repositioning reduces adhesion. Dip the sheet briefly in lukewarm water and slide the element off the backing paper onto the gloss coat: do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemicals attack the printed resin. At the end matte the surrounding areas and leave the gloss only on the instrument glasses.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit of the aircraft. The set is cut for a particular kit in this scale, so check your own release.
