A combined package of accessories in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, intended for building a model of the Japanese Mitsubishi A6M3 Zero fighter. This package belongs to the line in which Eduard brings several separately sold accessory sets together into one bundle: the modeler does not have to assemble the upgrade piece by piece and has everything needed together in one box. The ESSENTIAL designation is the name of this combined line, not a description of a particular part. The exact list of contents differs from bundle to bundle according to the type of aircraft, so go through it in the manufacturer's catalog before buying.
The Mitsubishi A6M was a single-seat carrier fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy, exceptional in its day for range and agility, but at the price of a light structure with no armor and no self-sealing fuel tanks. The A6M3 version received the Sakae 21 engine with a single-stage two-speed supercharger, which improved performance at higher altitudes. On one of the subversions the wing tips were shortened for better agility and roll rate, on a later one the span returned to the original shape; on a model that is a difference you see at once, so check which subversion your kit covers.
First wash any remains of the mold release agent off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks with a saw and true the face; when sanding, work with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue. Separate photo-etched parts with a scalpel, degrease the faces and make the bends in a bending tool. A base coat is necessary on both metal and resin before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. Finish the cockpit and everything that will be inside before you close up the fuselage.
