An injection-molded plastic kit of the Mitsubishi G4M1 Betty (Type 11) in 1:48 scale from Tamiya, with a richly detailed interior and several marking options.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese land-based torpedo and medium bomber of the Second World War in 1:48 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya. The model captures the early Type 11 version (G4M1) with its characteristic cigar-shaped fuselage. According to the manufacturer, the flaps, the engine cowl flaps, the dorsal gun position and the upper part of the cockpit glazing can be built in the open or the closed position. The box further offers a torpedo, a set of aerial bombs, crew figures and several marking options.
The Mitsubishi G4M was a twin-engine land-based bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy, known to the Allies under the reporting name Betty. It stood out for its long range and its ability to carry a torpedo as well as bombs, for which it paid with weak armor and unprotected tanks. It was used from the beginning of the war in the Pacific; aircraft of this type took part in the sinking of the British battleship Prince of Wales and the battlecruiser Repulse. The G4M1 Type 11 version was the first production variant.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the glazed sections and the cockpit before you close the fuselage; the extensive glazing is worth masking. Apply a primer before painting, ideally with an airbrush. Good acrylic or enamel paints suit both the natural metal surfaces and the period Japanese green camouflage; the engraved panel lines come out well after a light emphasis with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
