Quickboost Nakajima Ki 43-II late exhaust, type B (1:48): a resin exhaust system for the late version of the Japanese Ki 43 fighter. An aftermarket accessory, not a stand-alone model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin accessory from the Quickboost (Aires) brand in 1:48 scale holding the exhaust system in the type B pattern for the late version of the Nakajima Ki 43-II late fighter. It is not a model of the airplane but a small replacement set that takes the place of coarser or split plastic parts with more precisely cast shapes. A finely cast exhaust looks more delicate on a finished model than injection-molded plastic does.
The Nakajima Ki 43 Hayabusa (Allied code name Oscar) was a Japanese single-seat fighter of the Second World War with a radial engine. The Ki 43-II version had a strengthened structure and a reworked powerplant; the late machines differed in details, the pattern of the exhausts included. This set offers the type B pattern.
Separate the parts carefully from the casting block, wash them free of mold release residue and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The exhausts take color well in dark iron with a hint of rust and burnt metal; work with respiratory protection while sanding.
The model of the airplane itself is not included in the package. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included.
