Cut self-adhesive New Ware masks at the BASIC level for the model of the American North American T-28 Trojan trainer in 1:48 scale. The long two-seat canopy of the Trojan is made up of many glazed panels divided by thin frames, which makes it one of the most laborious masking jobs there is by hand. Pre-cut masks shorten the work to minutes and the frames stay perfectly straight. The BASIC designation marks the basic extent of the set within the graded New Ware range; for wider coverage of the airframe the manufacturer also offers the more extensive EXPERT level.

The real subject

The T-28 Trojan was the standard trainer of the American armed forces after the Second World War. The T-28B version with its Wright radial engine served with the Navy, the T-28C received an arrestor hook for carrier landing training, and the armed T-28D used in counter-insurgency operations made its name in Vietnam and in a number of smaller conflicts.

Use

• Wash and degrease the canopy and the masks will hold reliably.
• Lay the individual panels down with tweezers and press the edges home with a toothpick.
• Spray the frames with interior color first and then with the external camouflage.
• Peel the masks off slowly at a sharp angle once the paint has dried.
