The GasPatch Oberursel U.III (1:48) is a resin 3D-printed model of a two-row rotary aircraft engine from the First World War, intended as a detail accessory for models of period aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is a separate, finely detailed model of the rare Oberursel U.III two-row rotary engine in 1:48. It is printed by the modern technology of 3D printing from photopolymer resin, thanks to which it faithfully captures the arrangement of the cylinders and the valve gear. It is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory with which you bring out the engine section of a period aircraft.
The Oberursel U.III was a German fourteen-cylinder two-row rotary engine following on from the older single-row designs. It was among the experimental powerplants providing a higher output and was intended for the more powerful fighting aircraft of the close of the First World War. Like the other rotary engines it was cooled by air and turned with the whole block of cylinders.
Wash the print resin residue off the parts and separate them from the print supports. Do the gluing with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), and the sanding with respiratory protection. The engine suits metallic shades completed by a dark wash into the recesses and fine accenting of the edges; brass and copper accents on the plumbing increase the realism.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The glue, the paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
