1:48 OV-1 D Mohawk 2 engines is a Black Dog set that works up both engine sections of the Mohawk observation aircraft at once.
Responsibility details are not available.
While the smaller version in this line deals with only one side of the aircraft, this item covers both according to its name. That has a practical consequence: the finished model can stand on its base with the panels open symmetrically on the right and the left, which on a twin-engine machine looks more natural than a single open nacelle. The manufacturer is Black Dog.
The Mohawk came about as a machine for observing the battlefield from close up. The crew sat side by side behind a heavily glazed nose, the aircraft had a triple vertical tail, sturdy landing gear and the ability to operate from short and unpaved strips. The D version added sensor and night equipment. The turboprop units in the nacelles on the sides of the fuselage are among its most striking features.
Work symmetrically: measure both sides out at the same time so that the angles and depths do not differ. Make the cuts from the outside inward and keep comparing the two open areas against each other. A dark base, edges picked out with drybrushing and a light final wash will separate the individual surfaces without bringing any untrue extra detail into the model.
Do not look here for the base aircraft or the materials for painting; those are obtained separately.
