Nose gun barrels for the P-38F/G Lightning in 1:48 scale, type B are resin replacement parts from Quickboost for swapping out the plastic barrels from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is one of the detail accessories; it is not an aircraft kit. It replaces the gun barrels concentrated in the nose of the Lightning's central nacelle and offers them in the form designated as type B. A resin casting keeps a circular section along its whole length, which on thin plastic barrels usually does not survive the removal of the parting line.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engined fighter with a characteristic twin-boom layout and a central nacelle for the pilot. All the gun armament was concentrated in it, so firing did not call for convergence as with weapons in the wing and the range stayed accurate at greater distances. The P-38F and P-38G versions were among the early production forms, and their nose is a rewarding detail on a model, because it is clearly visible on a finished build from the front and from the side.
The parts are small and fragile, so cut them from the casting block with a fine saw over a work surface, not with nippers, which will snap the resin. Before gluing, wash everything to remove the mold release agent and first widen the holes in the nose with a drill dry, so that the barrels seat square and in the same plane. Check the symmetry by looking from the front, not from above. It is glued with super glue, and a primer follows once it has dried. Dark metallic shades with fine emphasis of the muzzles suit the barrels; the transition to the fuselage skin can be unified with a light wash.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
